REQUIRED SUPPLIES will be shared with Science class:
1 – 2 inch 3-ring binder
1 – pack tabbed divider pages for binder
1 – 12 pack of Crayola colored pencils
supply of pencils, pens (blue/black), lead, erasers, etc.
pencil pouch (with 3 holes to put in binder) - optional
1 – zip/flash drive
1 – inquisitive mind, ready for learning
OBJECTIVES: To learn about past civilizations, their cultures, and their contributions, to the world, as laid out by the Ohio Academic Standards for 7th grade Social Studies.
COURSE SCHEDULE: Areas of interest that will be covered throughout the course of the year include the following:
· history, advancements, and impacts of major civilizations in Asia, Africa, and Europe, up through the First Global Age.
· geography
· economics and government
· spread of major world religions or belief systems which may include mythology, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam
GRADE POLICIES: There will be a wide array of individual and small group assessments over the course of the year which may include worksheets, quizzes, unit tests, hands-on activities, writing assignments, graphing, or projects. Student’s grades can be monitored online at Rock Hill’s website by obtaining an ID and password via the office. I strongly encourage this!
RH grade scale:
· 94 – 100 A
· 86 – 93 B
· 75 – 85 C
· 65 – 74 D
· < 65 F
CLASSROOM RULES: In order for every student to be given the opportunity to have a pleasant learning experience, rules and consequences have been posted in the classroom. This helps alleviate disciplinary problems and creates a positive learning environment.
