- Label and color countries of current-day Europe.
- Pop quiz – one with highest score receives a prize. On back side of Europe map number 1-16 with the countries / cities below (write the countries and cities on board for them to copy down). Out beside list the continent / country it is in. Give 5-10 minutes to answer then go over them. Afterwards have students turn back to map side and find and label the cities as well as the Artic Ocean, English Channel, and The Alps.

DAY 5: Feudal system role play - History: 1, 3, 4, 5, Govt.: 16, 18
Review guided reading paper and map.
Stations of 4 are set up across the room as manors. (tags with Manor A, Manor B, etc. are on tables). Teacher plays the part of the king. Students draw their parts out of the black death bucket, pick up their assigned scripts, and go to their spot near the board (label areas on board of lord, serfs, knights). Students read over their script. Then teacher starts the role-play.
After role-play is finished, ask guided questions from lesson plan paper, and then compare Japanese feudal system of emperor, Shogun, samurai, and peasants.
If extra time permits, have students draw and label their own manor (can use p. 400-401 in textbook to help).
DAY 6 + 7: Becoming a knight / Heraldry – History: 1, 5
Mini lecture on the steps to becoming a knight (page at around 13, squire at 16, knight at 21 and each job’s responsibilities) Mini lecture on chivalry and heraldry. Each person designs their own coat-of-arms onto a shield template.
DAY 8 + 9: Black Death – History: 1
Role play through the scenarios, take down notes, then play the death game.
DAY 10: Magna Carta / Parliament – Govt.: 16-18

DAY 11: The Church, the Inquisition, Olde English, and Illuminations – History: 1, 2, 7
Stations are set-up with desk copies for each. Fill out graphic organizer.
Everyone does an illumination of their name.
DAY 12 + 13: Literature / movie – History 1, Govt. 16-18
Beowulf, King Arthur, or Robin Hood
DAY 14 : Trade fairs, banks + money, rise of towns, and guilds – History: 1, Econ.: 19-21
Guided reading stations for all 4 areas, then everyone designs a guild banner depending on what job they wish to represent.
DAY 15: Vocabulary / make-up + binder grade / food / music – History 1
